My Turkey

To the tune of: I'm a Little Teapot

I have a turkey, big and fat.

He spreads his wings
(fan hands at hip).

And walks like that.
(strut back and forth).

His daily corn he would not miss,
(pretend to eat corn).

And when he talks, he sounds like this
( gobble, gobble).

Thanksgiving Day

To tune of: Here we go around the Mulbery Bush

This is the day for giving thanks,
Giving thanks, giving thanks.
This is the day for giving thanks,
Celebrate Thanksgiving!
This is the day for thanking those
Who give us food and give us clothes.
This is the day a "thank you" goes
To family on Thanksgiving!
This is the day for thanking friends,
On friendship, everyone depends.
This is the day our thanks extend
To friends on Thanksgiving!
This is the day the Pilgrims ate,
And with the Indians shared their plate.
This is the day we commemorate
The very first Thanksgiving!
This is the day to be sincere,
Giving thanks that we are here.
In November every year
We celebrate Thanksgiving!

Brave Little Pilgrim

The brave little pilgrim
Went looking for a bear.
He looking in the woods.
He looked everywhere.
The brave little pilgrim
Found a big brown bear.
He ran like a rabbit
OH!! What a scare!

Pilgrim Children

(Count off on 10 fingers)

Pilgrim children did not play
On that first Thanksgiving Day.

The first chopped wood which he could take
to help his sister cook and bake.

The second took a great big sack,
and brought some nuts, all they could crack.

The third one got a turkey and she helped to roast it in a pan.

The fourth ground corn to make the bread

The fifth made covers for the bed.

The sixth one brought a pumpkin by
she cut it up to make it pie.

The seventh came and popped some corn.

The eighth fed horses in the barn

The ninth watched food or it might burn,

The tenth churned butter in a churn.

Pilgrim children did not play

On that first Thanksgiving Day.

Five Fat Turkeys

Five fat turkeys were sitting on a fence.
(Hold up one hand)

The first one said, 'I'm so immense.'
(Point to thumb)

The second one said, 'I can gobble at you.'
(Pointer finger)

The third one said, 'I can gobble, too.'
(Middle finger)

The fourth one said, 'I can spread my tail.'
(Ring finger)

The fifth one said, 'Don't catch it on a nail.'
(Little finger)

A farmer came along and stopped to say
(Pointer finger of other hand.)
'Turkeys look best on Thanksgiving Day.'

10 Fat Turkeys

10 fat turkeys standing in a row
(hold up ten fingers)

They spread their feathers and tails like so
(spread fingers)

They strut to the left

They strut to the right
(move fingers left and right)

They say Gobble, gobble, gobble

in the bright sunlight

Five Little Pilgrims

Five little Pilgrims on Thanksgiving Day
(hold up hand and count off fingers with the rhyme)

The first one said, "I"ll have cake if I may."

The second one said, "I'll have turkey roasted."

The third one said, "I'll have chestnuts toasted."

The fourth one said, "I'll have pumpkin pie."

The fifth one said, "Oh, cranberries I spy."

But before the Pilgrims ate their turkey dressing,

They bowed their heads and said a Thanksgiving blessing.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving Dinner

Every day when we eat our dinner

Our table is so small
(interlace fingers of each hand, pushing fingers together, palms down, and thumbs extended to be table legs)

Just room for Mother, Father, Sister, Baby, And Me-that's all

But when Thanksgiving comes and company

You'd scare believe your eyes
(pull fingers and hands apart as far as possible keeping finger tips interlaced)

That very self-same table

Stretches out until it's this size.

The Turkey

(Open left hand, palm facing forward, place right hand fist in center of left palm with thumb extending outward)

Gobble, Gobble
Says the Turkey
(wiggle thumb so show turkey speaking)

Soon t'will be Thanksgiving Day

Will you eat me?

How you treat me!

I will run away!

(wiggle fingers and move both hands quickly behind back as turkey runs away)

Turkey is a Funny Bird

A turkey is a funny bird

(hold up one hand)

Watch him wobble, wobble

(sway hand)

All he knows is just one word

Gobble, gobble, gobble!
